The Royal Rooters, that's what a should've called my thread! How silly of me! Justa nice little spot for Sox fans to b!tch and moan like most of Bostonites like to do! But be forewarned, the rules are the same, talk of anything you want, speak your mind, just no politics! (or religion)

francona stinks

August 15, 2011 11:08 am
there is no Red Sox fan that think terry francona is doing  a good job this year changing the lineup tooo much let reddick play and let mcdonald sit or send him dowm, he is way over coaching and nobody sees this time for frnacona to go , there in 1st place but should be up by at least 5 games

Think your in a very small minority here Mister,

This Sox fan as well as most if not all I know are big on Francona.  Best manager ever. It's easy for you and a few others to pick apart Tito

but since you and a few others ONLY manage the Sox from your arm chair, Sorry dont really think your qualified to second guess what Tito does as he is there and he really knows his players on a a whole different level then us as fans do.

Sorry to hear that hs.  Never was  a fan of the state of Conn.  Day of rest then a

tough stretch.  How about Thome hitting #599 and #600 tonight.  One of

the good guys.

Day game today - the Rays defenses will have their Shields up, the Sox trying to get more from Les(ter) as August rolls.  I don't want the summer to end - push the sun back up into the sky and keep that fresh cut grass smell, please.

Yanks attempt to be a Royal pain so KC is fiesty when you guys see 'em.  Somehow (who knows) we survived AJ yesterday... thank Jeter, maybe (hitting .284? my my my).  Stay tuned...   Oh.   By the way, tied for 1st.  Good times.

On that other issue - Every time you hear this guy speak, Francona is a class act.  Direct, candid, gracious.

Predictably....   CBS and accuracy have only a nodding acquaintance.  Sox are listed with 2 games today, both Shields/Lester.

Tough day night doubleheader, i'd say.

More power to the Shields, Scotty!    Jeez, he allows 3 hits.    Three.    Rays would have signed for that.  Dang. Timing is everything.

Bedard?    You're going to need much more lumber to build that nightcap.  I hear saws, hammers, air drills....

By the twilight Rays of dusk....

It is what it is E-Rock, have been keeping my eyes and ears open in hopes of finding work down south so I can get out of this mess of a state. Last Gov election the people in Conn had a choice between bad and really bad. Unfortunately "really bad" squeeked out a victory and now the poor saps he fooled along with the rest of us are literally paying the price in the form of ridiculous tax increases and decreases in state services. He wants to fix the state budget "right now" during the toughest economic times in decades at the cost of the middle class. Anyone who knows anything about politics knows you can shove tax increases down the throats of taxpayers OR make cuts to services but never both at the same time. His political career will be over at the end of his current term.

Anyway, Sox pulled off the win in game one today thanks to Lester and Ellsbury (aka AL MVP) so the Yanks are 1/2 game back going into tonight. Good to see Jeter come through with some timely hitting in the clutch yesterday, granted it was against less than stellar pitching but I'll take it. Glad to see Melky doing well in KC, I liked him when he was with the Yanks although he never really put up the numbers people wanted to see in NY. At least he's now showing what he's capable of in a no pressure environment.

...and just my take on Francona, the guy came in and managed the Sox to their first championship in 86 years in his first season, then is able to manage them to a second championship three years later? Then looking at last season with the numerous injuries, able to keep his team in it for as long as he did, I tip my cap to him. Add onto all that he always says the right things in interviews and press conferences and never slanders his players or opposing players, he's alright in my book.

Good job hs.  I know I can speak for RSF when we say he is the right guy for this job.

I always ask the bashers who they would rather have and they always never answer.  I am sure over the years that

there was a lot of BS we never heard of because of him.  Where I live now, Charlie Manuel got

the same guff, but now look at him and his team.

Sucked to lose but damn that was a great triple play !

Three's seem to be the theme yesterday.  3 hits game one (ekked out a win), 3 hits game two (got ekked), triple play (hitter was slower than Posada?).   3rd game today is the rubber game?

Did I see Ortiz is sore?  Inflamation or something.  You've been pretty good about the dings this year (pitchers not withstanding) so count your blessings.  As to game glogs...  way too many jerks & trolls - Rooters of course the much better exception - but why not do a game thread?  There is less anonymity and more posting room.  Plus it's rateable.

End of August NY-Sox rematch <-- let's plan one.

Does CBS even allow game threads or has everyone decided the glogs are better?  I enjoyed the threads as you got to know the

posters faster and one could even learn something.  Rooters always a good place for quiet reflection.   By the way the Cano-Pedroia

debate is raging amoungst the usual brainiacs.

Seems to be a lumber shortage around Fenway...  trees hard to come by in the marsh?

3 hits yesterday 1st game, 3 hits yesterday 2nd game, today through almost 7....   3 hits.   Tampa throwing X-rays?   or Boston lineup having a coordinated slump... kind of a synchronized time of month or something?     Odd.

game threads are allowed and used to be huge, though I gather some newcomers find the glog easier - trouble is it's scrolled and gone, very hard to look back or catch up.  Next good game, I'm up for a thread.

KC has hitters <- alert.  Texas is also known for a few.  <-- alert II

Looks like the Rays caught the Sox at the right time with their offense on hold. No doubt the bats will come back, now hoping the Yanks can take advantage of the Sox misfortunes and put a game between them. We'll see how the toad pitches tonight against KC. Been fun watching the Royals, a lot of young guys who we'll probably be hearing about for years to come, only question will be in who's uniform?

Been fun watching the Royals, a lot of young guys who we'll probably be hearing about...

HS:  and wouldn't it be great to hear about them all in their very next series...  vs. the beantowners!   If the Yanks can win tonight, that sets up a nice probable rebound by KC just at the right time.

RSF:  Yes, I sure know the swings that pendulum takes.  Rays do have the arms - that's one factor.  Maybe Ortiz is missed?  Despite the surge by Sox and Yanks, those Rays may be 9 out but the era/slugging/whip/ops stats all say that team is still among the top few.  And where some contenders have one strength (pitching, Phils, Atl. SanFran,  slugging, Texas)  those Rays are more balanced.  KC hits, but few arms.
