Enjoy the beach, you going to the Shore or someplace cool? |

i dont go on the freaking beach dorkeramus! i stay inside the ac and then go to the bar!
north wildwood is on the shore and near the beach. im not a beachgoer -- the sand alone is burning hot. i stay inside and stay cool like the KING I AM! so you and John Cusack go back in your corner! |

You are funny, why go all that way to not go to the beach? Heck I was on the beach every day in Florida and while it was cooler there than it was in St Louis, it was still mid 90's...that's what they make those beach sandals and flip flops for...get in the ocean dude.
To each his own, enjoy the trip nonetheless and come back smiling. Maybe a female catfish will be in the bar to help get you fishy. You and the Real Housewives have fun in Jersey. |

Ah yes...I'm away but a few days, and you two have to be separated by the school ma'arm from Kansas.
Well, Phoggy is tougher than anyone I know except the Senora, so I guess you two haven't lost all face. ![]() So, what do I call you two? Your royal Highnasses? ![]() Football season is coming people, and there will be much to discuss besides bad beaches, droughts without end, and the demise of the Phillies. By the way...nice to see you guys alive and kicking. LOL Rok |

Funny Rok, so Big 10, no one is giving my Hawkeyes any play whatsoever and I get that, they have a lot to prove. I feel if they play up to their potential, they should start 5-0, but with 2 new coordinators, that could be a hefty goal. Have seen a lot of predictions that they will lose their first one. Sept 1 can't come soon enough in my book.

rok-the demise of the phillies won't be that long. move a few pieces around the board and get a key FA in the offseason and they are right back to being on top of the NL East. don't poke the sleeping bear!

Good morning. I go back the 13th and we get kids the 15th, I think....
Is this her first year being departamentalized? (Switching clasrooms every block?) First year with a locked locker? Those two things can be stressful. But assure her that in all my years, I have never had a kiddo (even the SpEd ones) who do not figure both out after a few days. That's my advice,. That, and creep her fb and keep track of her texts so you know with whom she is interacting. |

Catfish - Can't imagine the Shore has that great of water, but I find it interesting that in the last couple of years we have so many reality shows about Jersey. When I was a kid, New Jersey was just an answer on a test and Trenton was the other. Not really sure why the appeal is there nowadays.
Phoggy - yes, first year with all the locker and stuff. They did switch classes a bit last year to get the feel but not like it will be for middle school. I wish I had a lock for her to practice on really, then it would be nothing, but she has tourette's so this will be interesting to see how she deals with it. As for FB and texts, no worries, she has neither. She is only 11 and while I know some of her classmates have FB, you are supposed to be 13 to even start, so likely nothing for her til 8th and while she knows how to use the phone, we are lucky, doesn't care about texting or even calling. Have a good Monday all, or at least as good of one that you can, it's Monday, am tired as we are trying to start the kids on the school schedule so up early today. ready for a nap |

hawk-can you get her a lock with a key instead? i had our lockers with the combination lock. what a pain.
the jersey shore is hard to describe and very unique. those tools on mtv are in northern nj and their shore is different from the shore i was just at and those kids would get pummeled for dancing like they do etc. and no one wears jeans like they do in a bar that is full that is 95 degrees and the bars close at 3. they go out till 5 am sometimes. very different and they are all tools. i got off facebook a month ago. i love it. i don't miss the nonsense and buffoonery at all. |

Last Person to post wins!August 6, 2012 2:07 pm
not sure on the lock, I have one with a key already, but then you have a kid who would likely lose the key...easier to do combo I think cause she will have that the rest of her school career likely, we shall see, I saw there is a new kind of lock which is a color combo type thing as well
FB, yeah it's interesting, I wondered where you went, these days with elections coming up people seem more polarized than ever, then you have the chick fil a thing and in the end it's just insane at times I want to see some reality shows on Rhode Island or Delaware or even Oregon...North Dakota though, now that would be cool, you want Survivor, drop some folks off in ND in the winter, hahaha |

plenty of dumb reality shows about ice road truckers and fishing in the sea. enough already. and now there's gator boys, swamp people, cajun justice etc. enough!
my boss yelled at me yesterday for a simple mistake and told me to "slow my roll." please shoot me. |
|
-
Last Person to post wins!August 7, 2012 10:15 am
slow your roll? What does that even mean, is she talking about dinner bread products? You still have that same lady boss that we talked about before? You should have said, ok, I will chill my bun. Who talks like that as a manager? Sad
I think in general we are beset by way too much "reality" programming that is really script written. Dancing shows, singing shows, they tried an ice skating show, etc...do not watch any of them and wonder where good writing went to put into sitcoms. We have very few that are really funny anymore, which is why I watch cable vs the traditional big 3 or Fox even. I think The Big Bang Theory is the only one I watch on network tv and even that became lame last year, too many people now and then they jumped the shark with the whole wedding thing and such. Just not that funny anymore. |

wedding? who got married on that show? the moment i heard the blonde kaley cuceo was dating her tv show boyfriend jonathen galecki in real life for a year, i threw up and decided never to watch that show again. then i saw blossum (mayim bailuk) on it and had enough. apparently blossum was a real whiz kid in college and was a astro physics major or something like that. then she had kids some weird unconventional way and decided to be a spokesperson for this weird way to give child birth. that's when i had enough with that show. the worst was i had a colleague of mine tell me that the little guy from that show galecki was a model and wasn't bad looking in real life (the one who dated the blonde kaley cuceo). please. he's a short midget with bad hair and a annoying voice! he's not a good looking dude. and she's cute! ugh.
then i saw alicia silverstone the bad one from all the old aerosmith videos eats her childs food first and then spits it out and then feeds it to her kid, so he won't choke on it. what? where's my Dad to kick some butt around here? wow. talk about crazy! i am glad i am a pet owner and nothing else. these kids today are spoiled rotten, are not polite and have no manners! i was a kid who said "yes ma'am" "no ma'am" or "yes sir" or "no sir" to any adult i encountered. my friends parents all loved me as i was so respectful whereas their own kids were bratty and mean. kids today, even my nieces and nephews are total punks! parents cater too much on their kids now! way too much! |

how do you really feel? The wedding was with Wolowitz and Bernadette and oddly enough Blossom won an emmy for her role on that show but I felt while she did bring some laughs that she wasn't that great of an addition. I really don't see how Sheldon can win emmy's either, do not even think he is the funniest one.
It's not easy raising kids today, my parents came and my Mom was telling my oldest daughter about something and she kept bugging my oldest daughter who finally had enough and said OK in a loud voice. I was not in the room I guess, but my wife reprimanded my daughter which is the way it should be. The problem Catfish is that with over a 50% divorce rate in teh US, parents use kids all the time and spoil them vs parenting them, if the parents are even around. Sad in my mind cause often those parents are children of divorce themselves. I know a friend who had at least 3 Dads growing up and then the bio Dad got remarried 2 times and the middle Dad was 3 times and the final Dad was on his third marriage and had kids with all 3 wives and on and on and it will be a wonder in 50 years that we are not all related somehow due to all the failed marriages and kids had with different parents. |

why? why was she punished for responded to a repeated question from an adult who should have only asked it once?? i don't agree with that as the elderly are forgetful of stuff and your daughter was mad bc as you said she kept bugging her about it. so i think the bugging her brought out her response. hmm. i side with the kid on that one. now if it was a one time of asking her and she snapped that's different, but over and over again makes me think your daughter was right to say "OK!" one time was all she needed here. kids are babied and spoiled! and childish baby names and baby jargon for a kid who is 5 or 6 yrs old. speak to them like a chilld, not an infant! total joke. blossum won an emmy ?? what? it better be for a guest appearance and not supporting actor. and sheldon was really funny when the show came out but now is not. and when i saw him in another movie, he acts the same way--he's just a very, very quirky guy, so his quirkiness in that role is not a stretch at all. parents today are blind to what a kid really needs over family income etc. kids are wearing $100 sneakers when their parents are barely getting by. i see 10 yr olds in philly with cell phones etc. these kids have no values at all. argh. |

You two are quite opinionated today. No, wait, that's every day. Nevermind.
Hawk, she will do fine. Will another elementary school feed into her middle school? Or will it just be the same kids she's always gone with? |

Catfish, the reason my wife said something (not really a reprimand I guess...) it was because she should not disrespect my Mom. My Mom can be a pain though for sure. She needs hearing aids but refuses to get them and on her best day is a bit difficult. Hard for kids to understand but it's good practice for later in life when you get jobs and get told to slow your roll...hahaha. Seriously tell me you didn't want to get up a pop her one.
Phoggy, I think 3 or 4 schools feed into the middle school...yeah she will be fine...have a great Tuesday all. |

hawk-i understand but you said she asked her the same question multiple of times. what should your kid do?? just roll with it over and over again. your mother doesn't want to get hearing aids, so her asking the same quesiton is now your daughter's problem? she answered it once, why should she be nudged and prided into the same thing again and again? old folks think just bc they are older and more experienced that they should be given everything and are always right. well, ask yourself that when you are stuck behind a old married couple in the fast lane of the highway when they are going 35 mph or are in front of you at the grocery store, taking forever and using every coupon in sight and arguing over 10 cents on Depends! And then say "huh," or "what" bc they can't hear anyone. being OLD doesn't make them right Hawk. OVER AND OVER again doesn't make it right to ask. Tell you daughter next time that Grandma Hawk is hard of hearing and old so she may ask something more than once. at least that gives your kid a damn warning.

I agree, but it was more about respect than anything.
Moving on...wow, the US has firmly cemented our position as #2 in the world to China in everything...education, manufacturing, athletics now, everything, way to take over China, wondering who will take over as #2 from us now...Sweden? Chanting We're #2 just doesn't have the same ring to it. Course many of the Olympic "sports" are laughers and not athletic sports but more skill sports. We know the US have lost the edge in skills so it's no surprise. I am out in fantasy baseball Catfish, the fire sale has started, waiting for college football to get here now. |

hawk--i saw your message on the board. no trade offers yet. if you want send me some trades and screw the league.
the us will be ahead of china when the games end. they have hoops left, beach vollyball and soccer. that's 4 possible golds there and a ton of silvers. sweden isn't even close to passing us hawk. put on your america hat and stay proud. a ton of these events are not catering to the us like in other countries. us athletes just don't compete in some of these cheesier events, so the usa is fine right where they're at. |

ouch, you guys are harsh, at least today we have finally flexed a bit of muscle, I think we take the top 2 in the decathlon and as it winds down (Thank Goodness! tired of it) we will end up in front, but just stinks to see us behind all that time to this point. You are right, these Olympic sports nowadays are weak, did you look at what they consider sports? A lot of skill sports vs athletic sports...
One last day of high heat and we catch a break for the weekend...course it is not as high as it was a month ago but upper 90's still hot |
