nah that's a Chinese dish, Dicey is from Japan, so maybe some sushi or something...really though, what an odd trading season in MLB...the Cubs, holy moly, they gave away a ton and got really nothing in return.  My Red Sox made a move to get Breslow?  Ugh

Cardinals get some lame pitcher from the Marlins, to me the only team to make out was the Yankees, got Ichiro and now Casey McGehee who could have potential. 

I am not sure the Phillies got much for their trades either.  No real big names went, maybe Dempster or Ichiro would be the big names.

Last year was more fun, guess teams are hurting.

I see we traded Broxton for two pitchers from the Reds. Whatever. 

Guess I missed the one big trade of Hanley Ramirez to the Dodgers last week when I was on vacation...that, to me, sets up the Dodgers for the win out West if their staff can pitch halfway decent.  Sure should help the staff by knocking in some runs with what they did today as well.

north wildwood is on the shore and near the beach. im not a beachgoer -- the sand alone is burning hot. i stay inside and stay cool like the KING I AM! so you and John Cusack go back in your corner!

You are funny, why go all that way to not go to the beach?  Heck I was on the beach every day in Florida and while it was cooler there than it was in St Louis, it was still mid 90's...that's what they make those beach sandals and flip flops for...get in the ocean dude. 

To each his own, enjoy the trip nonetheless and come back smiling.  Maybe a female catfish will be in the bar to help get you fishy.

Funny Rok, so Big 10, no one is giving my Hawkeyes any play whatsoever and I get that, they have a lot to prove.  I feel if they play up to their potential, they should start 5-0, but with 2 new coordinators, that could be a hefty goal.  Have seen a lot of predictions that they will lose their first one.  Sept 1 can't come soon enough in my book.

Hello? Anyone home?

Phoggy and all, good morning, hope all is well.  When does school start for you?  We start Aug 16 here, imagine you are either already or about to get the classroom all ready to go.  My daughter is in 6th grade this year, any advice?

aug 16th? that's early. we always went back after labor day, but you probably get out earlier too.

the shore was nice. and hawk--the water and beaches aren't always clean in nj so it's a health matter.

busy week at work this week. dreading it. huge project. ugh.

rok-the demise of the phillies won't be that long. move a few pieces around  the board and get a key FA in the offseason and they are right back to being on top of the NL East. don't poke the sleeping bear!

Good morning. I go back the 13th and we get kids the 15th, I think....

Is this her first year being departamentalized? (Switching clasrooms every block?) First year with a locked locker? Those two things can be stressful. But assure her that in all my years, I have never had a kiddo (even the SpEd ones) who do not figure both out after a few days. 

That's my advice,.  That, and creep her fb and keep track of her texts so you know with whom she is interacting.  

Catfish - Can't imagine the Shore has that great of water, but I find it interesting that in the last couple of years we have so many reality shows about Jersey.  When I was a kid, New Jersey was just an answer on a test and Trenton was the other.  Not really sure why the appeal is there nowadays. 

Phoggy - yes, first year with all the locker and stuff.  They did switch classes a bit last year to get the feel but not like it will be for middle school.  I wish I had a lock for her to practice on really, then it would be nothing, but she has tourette's so this will be interesting to see how she deals with it.  As for FB and texts, no worries, she has neither.  She is only 11 and while I know some of her classmates have FB, you are supposed to be 13 to even start, so likely nothing for her til 8th and while she knows how to use the phone, we are lucky, doesn't care about texting or even calling. 

Have a good Monday all, or at least as good of one that you can, it's Monday, am tired as we are trying to start the kids on the school schedule so up early today.  ready for a nap
