Hey HockeyBob, agree Chelios is right up there amongst USA born players, Joey Mullen, and Brett Hull come to mind ( maybe Hull less, that's just because Canadian born pops Bobby was playing there, spent a lot of time north of the border).Maybe most of the fans were too young or is it was such a long time ago, Chris Chelios was BORN in Chicago!

Hull is a U.S. citizen, and is U.S. born, but I believe he had or has dual-citizenship so I never really considered him a soley U.S. born player, otherwise I don't know that I would put Cheli ahead of him.   There are quite a few U.S. players like that.   Good call on Joey Mullen, I think I give Cheli the automatic nod because he grew up a couple miles from where I lived.

Hey jumped up to Milwaukee to see the Baby Blackhawks play (Ice Hogs) they won 4-1 over the Admirlas (Predetors). we sat 1 row behind the hogs and on the asile going to the locker room. My son got Exelby's stick......it was broken but still cool!

Ouch Toews leaves the Blues game with an upper body injury, and Kane is now back as well as Hossa. Captain Serrious is a player that will be hard to replace, not sure how long he is out.

The Defending Champs (USA) looked pretty good agains slovak eh. I seen a couple cheap shots but none worse than the one after the 6th goal lol I think they were a bit angry. It shold be USA and Canada in the final. Should be a great game.

I hope I am able to watch the classic, I am going to have to stock up on that chaser stuff............Tongue out

looks like a mini spring is on the way 52  here on friday.......we will see

now back to my PBR

Actually Hull was born in Canada.  The only reason why he played for the US was because Mike Keenan said he wasn't good enough to play for Team Canada, so he got US citizenship to play for Team USA.

Mr Bob,
Do you see Chelios going in as a Red Wing, Blackhawk, or Canadien?  Compelling reasons for all three.
By the way, I was very disappointed to see the way the Hawk fans treated Chelly and his family on their recent trip back to United Center.  I love the City, but the treated him poorly.  Unfortunately, they are living up to their reputation.

I think he goes in a Hawk, only because of his number of games played and statistical dominance during that period in his career.   As good as he was in Detroit he was never the number 1 d-man on the team and missed quite a bit of time.    I really don't care what uniform he wears because of his longevity and specific accomplishments with each franchise.   Because he was an American captain with Mon, the multiple Norris trophies, the cups in Detroit, etc., I think any of those accomplishments in whatever uniform are a suitable image for him to be seen wearing in the hall.     As a hockey fan, I really don't care too much about what a great player is wearing (as long as they wear something) as long as they have a stick and skates.
As long as he gets in I don't mind if he wears CHI, Det, or Mon.   This is one of those few cases where I don't have a strong opinion.

haha thanks Wingnut! it is a thread that is misunderstood but has come to life as I hoped it would be in the last few weeks.

Hey Chong! yeah still drinkin my PBR. You know if I go to a bar and they dont have it I leave unless I am with others then I have a soda while they have a drink then I make them leave lol

I certainly hope mother nature allows the spring errrrr......winter classic to be played saturday. Slump I have a feeling you are spot on with the 3 am play time, for sure the temps will be cold enough to have good ice.......I hope.

Cheli I say goes in as a Redwing he did spend 10 years there and won a few cups. He was in chicago for 9 years and went cupless. I actually think all teams a player played for should go on his plaque.......it is after all what the player accomplished in his carere and not what he did with one team (that tosses out my 10 years vs 9 years thought lol).

Exelby actually looked pretty good and is has the C on his Ice Hogs sweater, I would rather have him on the Blackhawks than John Scott. You mentioned the slow scating of Exelby but scott is a snail on the ice.

Hmmmm....did I mention that I went to the Blackhawks vs Blue Jackets game? I got the tix free and with a parking pass. I sat in sec 203 great seats, you only have to get up to go pee cause there is servers in the club section. Blackhawks won 4-1 then the last two games (Blues and Sharks) they dump. They did look better tonight against the sharks. The Blues game was horrid........thats all I will say about that.

HEY Patrick Eves got his first hat trick! that was a need boost with the fire power the Red Wings are missing now.

Baseball........do we really have to? can we skip the next 2 seasons? I am sooooo thankful for hockey! And whats with football? they may as well put flags on these guys or two hand touch. PC has crept into sports OYE!

I hope everyone has a happy and SAFE new years. Remember dont drink and drive.........you might spill    (really call a cab)

Thanks, I think I finally got it.   Born in the North, grew up in Chicago, dual-citizenship the whole time.    I should impale myself for not knowing that......I'll wait until I see how the Bears do though.     His whole career I had it stuck in my head that he was born in the states because his old-man was playing in Chicago.
Better to straighten it out really late than never I guess.

Did Toews come back yet?   Kopecky getting 18 min is too much by about 11 minutes.     Brouwer got clubbed with the stupid stick, and we got a glimpse of vintage Cullimore on the hold.   Dumb penalties tonight.   I think SJ only had 9 or 10 shots even strength all night.    How many times did the Hawks miss the net trying to go glove side high on Niemi?    Bolland only won 2 of his last 11 faceoffs, pathetic, I don't care if it was Thorton or not.   Nice gentle game coming up against Carlyle's quack quacks, maybe the road for a couple will do some good and build up all that "chemistry, grit, and fire" and all that other intangible garbage they put too much meaning in.    Gave away points again, can't keep doing that, especially in the conference.

Johnny Serrious is out 2 weeks so yeah this is what we have.......an underacheving team with no leader till he gets back. On the glove side........As I watched this team last night I couldnt help but to think of my Girls soccer team who would following my pointers to the death never straying from said suggestion. Just kinda made me laugh, at some point you have to change it up and not be so vanillia.

Bob I still say Stan needs to pull the trigger on a big move OR cut some of the garbage we have and be honest with the Blackhawks Nation. Meaning end the John Scott experiment, Trade Jack Skillie, send Cullimore back to rockford and bring up some kids and Exelby (LOL slump will like that move)

Points are like gold now and will be harder to get real soon, I think they (Blackhawks) will find themselves on the out side looking in.

Stan has to do something at the blueline, Bolland isn't going anywhere, so trading Sharp is the only option other than if he decides to make a minor upgrade with the limited cap space available.    Cullimore should go soon.     I still think the Hawks get in, they've outplayed so many of their opponents even when they lost that I think it won't take too much for them to click for a couple good winning streaks.   I just don't think too many teams are better than Chicago, I think Chicago has been shooting themselves in the foot.
Well anyway we'll see what happens this weekend.
