Regardless. It feels as of the punishment is trying to "make the world feel better" for what happened? That's not going to happen. Why punish the University the way that they did. Especially vacating the wins POST sandusky being on campus as a coach. Awkward... Also, very interesting that the wins were vacated from the year where they wanted Joe Pa to retire initially... another interesting thing. When it's all said and done I hope all of the SOB's involved in the coverup and the coverup of punishing the entire set of guilty parties instead of this knee jerk emotional and blanket punishment for a university, it's staff, athletes, students and alumni.

The healing process has to start somewhere and the more people talk, whimper, whine and complain about anything Penn State it delays that process. Anytime anyone posts crap like...

1. Joe was a great coach
2. Joe was a great man
3. Penn State got screwed
4. The statue should not have come down

All these things lead to more attention negativity. The attention needs to go to those victims and what they went through and how they are going to get through it and live happy and productive lives with all of this behind them.

Hey Merc.  I made quite a few of the "WHITE TRASH" shows in BATON ROUGE back in the late 70s. Edgar and Johnny played together a lot, but I dont think it ever was a steady gig for them. Used to go see them at a bar during the week and a few times there would only be maybe 50 people. They were some STRANGE DUDES and LOOKED STRANGER!  They could jam though, I can still see Johnny on that opening riff of Johnny B Goode. Edgar on Still alive and Well, Classic!  They were from Louisiana, somewhere around Baton Rouge I think, no one ever knew exactly, MORE STRANGE CRAP. I know one or both were locked up in ANGOLA STATE PEN ( Dead man walking fame) for quite a while, they would do shows inside like Johnny Cash out in Calif.  


Great memories, thanks for bringing up the name , have not thought about those guys in a L O N G time!

Can understand the penalty going forward but to erase team and individual stats from the past  is ridiculous, it`s so mind boggling, is the NCAA saying that the reason the football program had success was because of Sandusky`s criminal behavior.Just don`t grok taking away the stats?????

I myself am GUITLY of liking Joe Paterno...............I thought he was a good coach as far as College Football goes.



EVERYONE has Stated this.........he did not do or say enough......maybe he could have prevented this outcome had he stepped up 10 years ago when he first got info about Sandusky......Now the school is paying a HUGE price for their mistake.......I think this penalty today is harsher than the "Death Penalty".......it will take Penn State a long time to re-cover from this.......we may not even see that in our life time ???



They are a STORIED School and now they have a tainted Past......it is sad to say the Least.

Larry...I'd love to say that I agree with you but what he took to the grave was the hope of self preservation. When this whole thing came to light eveyone made claim to telling the right people.

The right people to tell were the police...and told immediately. When McCreary walked into that locker room and saw what he saw he should have not only slammed the locker shut but he should have slammed Sandusky and held him till the police got there.

Pateron should have stood up for what was right and forbid Sandusky from being in his locker room, on his field and actually on campus. Joe dropped the ball. He became a corporate sell out and put himself, the team and the school first over a small defenseless child.       

Sorry...but Paterno doesn't get a push because he was a great college coach...he failed others when they needed him most. He sold out. 

That is unexcusable.
