The Major League Baseball Players Association knows who leaked Ryan Braun's positive drug test to ESPN, but is not considering a lawsuit, executive director Michael Weiner told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"The union is not," Weiner said when asked if they were considering legal action. "I guess I can't speak for Ryan on that point. That will be their decision. My sense is that what's done is done. I think that's also the best thing for everybody."

The leak came from someone whom the Braun defense team talked to in preparation for its case, the newspaper reported.

Weiner said the union does not believe there is an issue with confidentiality with MLB's drug program.

"Everyone associated with the case is extemely disappointed that it leaked out," Weiner told the newspaper. "I'm certain the leak was specific to this case. It does not threaten the confidentiality of the program and as I've said to players who have asked about that, confidentiality is as important as any aspect of this program.

"The program has a bunch of different goals but confidentiality is critical. If we felt there was any system-wide problem with respect to confidentiality, we really would have a problem. And that's not the case."

"Weiner said the union does not believe there is an issue with confidentiality with MLB's drug program."

So if Braun had a "confidential" drug program-related problem and that "confidential information" leaked out, there is NO issue with MLB's drug program confidentiality? REALLY????

Then, what about gas prices???Cool

COME ON MAN!!!

Oh yeah, IF there is a falloff it will be because Prince Fielder is NO LONGER a Brewer. Pitchers had the choice of facing Braun or Fielder in the line-up. WHO WOULD YOU RATHER FACE? Aramis Ramirez is NOW hitting behind Braun. Let's see, I'll walk Braun to face Ramirez. DUH!!!

But it is OKAY for someone to LEAK the story about Braun, right? Doesn't matter about his reputation, career, or his personal life. Face it, if the story isn't leaked, NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT until the appeal process is done. Yes I'm a Braun fan but until all the COMPLETE FACTS are know, I will withhold judgement.  Too bad you and many other fans are incapable of doing the same!

If a PED doesn't affect your physical stature, what is the point in a hitter taking it?  Players like Andy Petitte who took HGH were simply trying to deal with injuries.  Why do people who have no first hand knowledge of a subject become experts simply by reading an article or hearing a report on ESPN, etc.?  This PED nonsense is so over-blown, and most fans are sick of it. Roger Clemens was a Cy Young Award winner before there was any hint of this kind of thing.  Clemens was a great pitcher because he had so many pitches and knew how to use them.  He had a workout regimen that was legendary.  He did not have a 98mph fastball when he was supposedly using PEDs.  As for Barry Bonds, there is more to hitting than brute strength.  This was something that took place for the most part in an era when PEDs were not banned in MLB. You don't know what Ryan Braun took, and neither do I.  If he did take PEDs, he's incredibly stupid. I just get tired of people who couldn't play major league baseball if their lives depended on it sitting around and condemning other people and acting like they are in possession of every relevant fact.  Ever heard of a false positive?  Athletes are always looking for ways to get stronger and better.  None of what occurred is all that surprising.  BTW I'm not a Braun fan. Also, Karma isn't confined to athletes.  Hope your life is pure as the driven snow.<br />

Hey Future Fate, do you know how to read???? I posted that Braun has been silent. You count his lawyer as Braun speaking. Your own article said Braun has refused to comment on anything other than baseball. Yeah, all innocent people refuse to talk about stuff. You Brewers fans are the biggest homers in the world.

Forget Braun for a second, what in the world is up with this guy's hair???? It looks like he was scalped, then had the dead piece of scalp re-fastened to his head.

Eventually Ryan Braun WILL admit to having taken PEDs.  We will all see within the next few years the proof that Ryan did take PEDs and after no longer taking them failed to produce anywhere close to his AVERAGE season.  "The proof is in the pudding".  Maybe he won't have a chance to show us what he can do without the PEDs because he will become GRADY SIZEMORE!!

There's only one way to solve this issue: let them ALL take whatever helps them perform better.  They will compete with each other on a level playing field.  It's like asking race car drivers to not use modern technology.  That they should all race each other using automotive technology from 10 or 20 years ago.

There are dangers and risks involved in using PEDs but there's risk everywhere.  I don't buy into the idea that athletes shouldn't take PEDs because it's cheating, they're harmful and it sets a bad example for kids.  Kids need to get their examples from their parents, teachers, military and other professionals that give more than they take.  Professional athletes are not role models, examples or heroes.  Although some of them, as humans, are role models, good examples and heroes.  But, being a professional athlete does not automatically make a person a role model, good example or hero.

Let them sacrifice their bodies to compete at the highest level and give us the ultimate entertainment for the money we spend on that entertainment.

Braun is guilty of breaking MLB's rules on banned substances but I don't think that, in and of itself, makes him a bad person.  What could make him a bad person is: lying and slander.

Ryan's stats will take a hit this year and not because of testosterone. It is because he will not have Prince Fielder in the line-up and pitchers will now pitch around Ryan instead of Prince.
