Cubs All-Star shortstop Starlin Castro has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman last fall, according to CBS Chicago.

The woman, reportedly in her 20s, said she was drinking with friends late last September when she and a friend left the bar and went to Castro's apartment at 3 a.m. She reportedly blacked out and then was allegedly being sexually assaulted by Castro when she came to. The police report, according to CBS Chicago, says the woman remembers screaming when she woke up at 5:30 a.m., yelled at Castro and left immediately. The alleged victim then filed a police report 12 hours later.

The Cubs have released the following statement:

“We are aware that a police report was filed regarding an incident involving Starlin, but we have received limited information. While this is something we take very seriously, there is not enough information to make any further comment or take action at this time. We are hopeful when the facts are brought to light, Starlin will be cleared of any wrongdoing.”

Castro's attorneys have released the following statement:

"We are aware of certain allegations that have been made against our client, Starlin Castro. We have thoroughly investigated this matter, and we are confident that these allegations are baseless. Given the sensitive nature of this matter, we cannot comment any further."

Castro, 21, has yet to be interviewed by police because he flew back to his home in the Dominican Republic, as scheduled, the very day the accuser filed her police report -- which was September 29, the day after the Cubs' season ended.

Report: Starlin Castro accused of sexual assault

Spankey, wake up and smell the stench of your own stupidity.  Yes I know all about the night game ordinance, I lived there for many years.  I was stating that that is one way to change to losers tradition there.  Yes, I know all about the historical building status, but it's a joke, the place is like an outhouse with terrible views and the conditions of the clubhouse are the worst in the league, you cannot deny that it has become a factor in whether a free agent goes to the Cubs as it has been stated before by many.  This is a reason the Rickets are ass clowns.  Yhese guys were playing with Daddies money and looking like idiots with their comments on that very subject.  Wouldn't you think you would investigate before you bought the Cubs wheteher the state or the city would be behind a remodel of the existing structure? Well they didn't and now they are stuck with a crumbling, dilapidated house of loserdome.  You can absolutely blame the organization, it's a tradition of losing and losers....so yes the Cubs and their "curse" seems to infect almost all involved.

globex22: you have some good points, only to sound like an idiot with you rambling. If you're no longer a fan, the it shouldn't bother you. If you were a fan you would know that the reason they don't play more night games is becuase the neighborhood committee and the alderman, along with the city don't want to approve it. They also went as far a pettitioning for historical building status so that they cannot tear it down without special permission. 3 isn't the whole idea of going to a game is to mingal with the other fans and enjoy your time out there? if it's just to see the game; then save your money and watch it at home. Also you can't blame a organization for the stupid actions of the players. Just as you can't blame them for the actions of idiot fan. You can only blame them for how they deal with it. So far they are not taking it and have traded everyone who has stepped out of line.

Your absolutely are correct Mr. bleacherbum5. I should never had put the billy goat in this story. The "ol goat" should be able to live out the rest of his existence in the Windy City without Cub fans blaming the unfortunate animal for a century of ineptitude and failure. Come on Bro! Some fat chick is out til 3 A.M., goes to some Dominican's pad, takes a siesta for a few hours, and then claims some form of sexual abuse. Somewhere in State College, Jerry Sandusky is laughing his butt off. Chill out bleachernut!

@spankeyd

1. castro is 21, not 20
2. there's a difference between blacking out (losing memory) and passing out (losing consciousness)
3. many rape victims don't report a rape immediately after it happen, if ever

Report: Starlin Castro accused of sexual assault

2 comments on this subject. I'm not trying to minimize the situation but I can't ignor these 2. What bar were they at that served drinks to a 20 year old (under age)? I'm asking becuase you need to be very drunk before you even get close to the black out stage. There was only 2 and a half hours from leaving the bar and waking up. 2nd is where was her friend that went with her? Would a true friend leave you passed out with a stranger at a strange place at that time of night? Make that 3 comments because there is the question about this. If you woke up screaming and being rape; why would you wait 12 hours to call the police and report it? If you wanted to sober up; the "I was passed out" story is really going to come into question. When a drunk passes out, they pass out for hours not minutes. Either way, he's screwed.
