Cubs All-Star shortstop Starlin Castro has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman last fall, according to CBS Chicago.

The woman, reportedly in her 20s, said she was drinking with friends late last September when she and a friend left the bar and went to Castro's apartment at 3 a.m. She reportedly blacked out and then was allegedly being sexually assaulted by Castro when she came to. The police report, according to CBS Chicago, says the woman remembers screaming when she woke up at 5:30 a.m., yelled at Castro and left immediately. The alleged victim then filed a police report 12 hours later.

The Cubs have released the following statement:

“We are aware that a police report was filed regarding an incident involving Starlin, but we have received limited information. While this is something we take very seriously, there is not enough information to make any further comment or take action at this time. We are hopeful when the facts are brought to light, Starlin will be cleared of any wrongdoing.”

Castro's attorneys have released the following statement:

"We are aware of certain allegations that have been made against our client, Starlin Castro. We have thoroughly investigated this matter, and we are confident that these allegations are baseless. Given the sensitive nature of this matter, we cannot comment any further."

Castro, 21, has yet to be interviewed by police because he flew back to his home in the Dominican Republic, as scheduled, the very day the accuser filed her police report -- which was September 29, the day after the Cubs' season ended.

Report: Starlin Castro accused of sexual assault

He flew out of town the day after the season ended.  Since he's a Cub, he probably had that flight booked in June.

Report: Starlin Castro accused of sexual assault

How about some common sense and holding the girl responsible for her own actions.  Let's see she was drinking and drinking enough to admittedly black out so she was drunk.  She goes back to a Cub players apartment at 3am from a bar so he was probably drinking also.  What do normal people do when they go back to the person of the opposite sex's place after a night of drinking?  Most of the time they screw otherwise she would have gone back to her own place.  Than she blacks out.  Just because she blacks out does not mean she isn't still functioning, she just doesn't remember so there is no way for Starlin to judge whether she is too drunk to make a judgement or not after all he could be drunk too.  Throw the case out it's a waste of tax payer's dollars and it's just going to be whored by some prosecutor trying to make a name for themselves with a high profile athlete.  She can say all she wants, she has zero proof that he forced himself on her and more than likely she seduced him.

Report: Starlin Castro accused of sexual assault

Being a life long Cub fan their season was over well before September 29.  It was over in May.

Lesson to be learned. In this day and age in where the law favors drunk bitches over responsibility. NEVER fuck a girl for the FIRST time while drunk. To do so is to put yourself in these shoes. Unless you know she a slut of course. Then its game on.

Report: Starlin Castro accused of sexual assault

What probably happened: This woman got drunk and went with Starlin to his appartment, they had sex because she was not in her right mind. She wakes up the next morning and realized what happened, was not happy that Starlin took advantage of her when she was drunk, and figured she could win a ton of money of she sued him.

B1tch be crazy.

Well now Zambrano slides into the 2nd most hated Cub.  Abusing a gatorade cooler doesn't really compare to abusing a drunk girl.  The girls friend will determine whether Castro is charged or not, she surely would have heard the screams at 5:30 in the morning.

You failed to add this to your quote when stating you are "simply" amazed how the Cubs have no comment  -  "We are hopeful when the facts are brought to light".

A) You have no idea what type of person Castro is yet you make an assumption that he is a "punk".
B) HE WAS SCHEDULED TO FLY THE DAY AFTER THE ALLEGED ATTACK. What part of that don't you understand? Was he charged with a crime that should have prevented him for leaving on his scheduled flight?
C) Has he been arrested? Is there a warrant? He is not required to fly back unless he is to appear in court or is requested to be interviewed in person.
D) HIS HOME IS IN THE DOMINICAN. He is at his home. He's not "ducking" anything. People know where he is and how to get in touch with him. If he was required to return to the US - you know he wouldn't? Please!
