DALLAS -- Once more, Jeffrey Loria said it won't be a problem. Once more, he insisted that Hanley Ramirez will accept the move to third base forced by the Marlins' signing of free-agent shortstop Jose Reyes.

Do you believe him?

"Hanley is a super-professional," Loria, the Marlins owner, said Monday. "We will work with him, make everything comfortable for him."

They won't be trading him. Loria loves Ramirez, and considers him part of the plan, part of the core. They won't, for now, be moving him to center field, although the Marlins have a need there and some opposing scouts think Ramirez would be just the guy to fill it.

He's the new third baseman, and if there was any doubt, new closer Heath Bell said out loud Monday that third base now belongs to Hanley.

Will he be happy?

Who knows, but new manager Ozzie Guillen could face his first big challenge in making it work.

'Super-professional' Ramirez to move to 3B

If I were a betting man I would bet that Reyes will be hurt AGAIN this season and miss more playing time just like he has for the last 3 seasons!! I just dont understand why a team would pay so much for a guy who is so injury prone?? No doubt he is a HUGE talent when he is healthy but cant seem to stay healty so why bother other than to put fans in the seats down there in Miami. My prediction is he will miss somehwere between 40-60 games in his first year and get worse from there!!!

Moving to third base when you start slowing down a little is a pretty commonplace thing for a SS. Reyes is probably the most athletic SS so hes hes getting the spot. I'm sure hanley will be happy about it as 3rd is a much easier possition and I'm sure it will reflect in his stats. Sorry Giants, Marlins are making moves and losing hanley is probably last on their things to do list. Giants need to sign pujols or fielder - if they don't they are not interested in winning a world series again.

Maybe the Giants should blow an offer Miamis way, How about Cain and Torres and a Minor Leaguer for Hanley. You guys get a top notch clutch pitcher and a decent CF. Wont happen cause Sabean wont trade pitching for hitting which makes no sense cause our pitchers will leave cause of the lack of offense SF has.

"Super-professional" is a descriptor I never thought would go along with Hanley Ramirez.

they are looking for a pitcher, Cubs have Garza, just might work out, C'mon Theo you have Hanley at short, move Castro to 2nd, sign fielder and you have super professional infield.

If anything, Hanley Ramirez has proven to be anything but professional.  The guy couldn't find the word in the dictionary.  Rumors are already swirling that he is on his way out of Miami, which is a mutual potential option, despite what Loria says.  Theo Epstein said he never would have made the trade of Ramirez to Florida for Beckett and Lowell had he been out of his monkey suit when the deal went down.  I can't believe he buys into this primma donna.  Yes, he is one of the most talented players in MLB, but the only thing he takes out of "team," are 2 letters, m and e, in that order!

No way this works....Hanley will be complaining and pissed about playing 3B by mid spring training.  He will be traded - to the Giants I hope.
It might work for a few months but it depend if Miami is a good team or not, But no one will know till Hanley say something.
