McKeon had to lock clubhouse to keep Beckett out

Earlier Wednesday, the Boston Globe broke a lengthy report that painted the Red Sox organization in a pretty bad light, specifically former manager Terry Francona and the players. The part of the story that has gained the most traction is that starting pitchers Josh Beckett, John Lackey, Jon Lester and sometimes Clay Buchholz would drink beer, eat fast-food fried chicken and play video games in the clubhouse during games, instead of sitting in the dugout and supporting teammates.

It turns out, Jack McKeon had an issue with keeping Beckett in the dugout himself. McKeon managed the Florida Marlins in 2003 when they won the World Series and Beckett was his ace. McKeon told the Palm Beach Post about his issue with Beckett and fellow starter Brad Penny.
“In between innings they’d go to the clubhouse to get a drink or hang out,’’ McKeon recalled this afternoon from his home in North Carolina.

“I said, ‘Hey, I got no rule against going up if you have to go to the bathroom or something, but get back.’ A couple of times I looked down the bench to talk to somebody and they weren’t there. They were in the clubhouse. So I went up and got them out and said, ‘OK, boys that’s it. We’ll lock the door.’”
Even funnier, McKeon eventually made bathroom passes for the players to use during games. So he had to act like a teacher to keep his kids in the dugout to observe the game and cheer on their teammates.

We already had Manny being Manny.  Now we have Beckett being Beckett!  Lackey being Just plain ol sucky Lackey.  Because of this we now have a new GM and we will have another manager.  Wonder if we can trade these two to Chicago to be reunited with Theo?

It's absolutely disgraceful that Al (Alcoholic) Beckett already showed disrespect towards The Marlins and Jack Mckeon.  Lackey is also a disrespectful jerk - the way he mouths things towards his fielders when they don't catch everything and the way he mouths off to his managers when he's taken out of a game.  I'm surprised that Mike Scoscia never knocked him out or that anyone for that matter ever took a shot at him.  Does everyone know that he keft his wife during the time she was going through cancer treatment.  Just shows his type of character.  A BIG LOSER!  And Beckett is a loser too.  AC Beckett.  Lets go AC!  Let's go AC! Let's go AC!  Al Co holic! Al Co holic! Al Coholic Beckett.  He should change his name.

This is absolutely disgraceful. Beckett and his cronies owe an apology to management and the fans. Can you imagine these pre madonnas getting paid this kind of money and acting like junior high school students sneaking back into the clubhouse to drink beer, eat chicken and play video games. Where was management when this was going on? where was the Captain, oh I mean phony captain when this was going on? Jason there's a reason why you have a C on your uniform to police matters like this and get everybody focused. As for Lackey they should just release the POS and get rid of him. He's nothing but a loser. Always was always will's a damn shame that Tito is gone all because of these spoiled little brats. In fact it appears to me that Beckett has a drinking problem.......

On one hand, I think the focus should be on Lackey. I mean, the guy SUCKS. At least Beckett is good.

On the other hand, Beckett being good means that he should lead the team to some extent.

Both guys are idiots. Should be ashamed. Of course, I'm sure they're too hammered to be ashamed of anything.

So NOT shoking about Beckett, also typical Boston to love him when he`s the "ace" but trash him when they lose. Josh Beckett has been a spoiled, unfocused brat for years and that is not changing no matter who the GM or manager is. Anyone else notice how the divide is going here? Blame the pitchers, put them in the media penalty box but silence on the hitters.  What is Big Papi not eating & drinking if there is fast food in smelling distance?? Please, not like he`s on the exercise bike between AB`s. Guess he`s always right there cheering or top stepping as Ynakee bashers love to say. Maybe he`s offering tips to young hitters like Josh Riddick. Was this not the same group that had Millar & his corny cowboy up have a shot gang? I`ll keep goin as JD Drew that thief of $19,000,000 is never around and always sulking. Bet he had several drinks. This is so funny to watch and read about decent playoff games and a hot stove with Pujols are secondary. Keep pointing fingers Sawx!

Lock the Clubhouse and Get Port-A-Pottie

What's the big deal.  If I am the manager, I just lock the Clubhouse up and get a port-a-pottie for the dugout.  Then no one would notice the stink that is coming from the Sox dugout.

Is it really that hard to sit in a a dugout and watch a ballgame? For 15 minutes? Why don't you at least hide a flask of some whiskey on days you don't start? This is really about supporting your teammates, and Beckett obviously didn't know much about that from the start. He and Lackey are obviously just a couple of hammerheads.
