Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz doubled in the sixth inning of the Rangers' Sunday night game against the Angels and had to be pulled from the game for a pinch-runner immediately due to a leg injury. It turns out Cruz has a strained left hamstring (Evan Grant via Twitter). Obviously there's no further word on the prognosis for Cruz, but a hamstring injury almost certainly means a trip to the disabled list for the talented-yet-injury-prone slugger.

Cruz has had several DL stints in the past two seasons with leg injuries, specifically two last season with a strained left hamstring. When he's on the field, he's one of the more feared home run hitters in the game, but he can't seem to avoid lingering injuries for long stretches at a time. In the last three seasons, Cruz has homered at a pace of 39 for every 162 games. Of course, he hasn't played more than 128 in a season and it looks like he'll fall short of that mark again, if he does hit the 15-day DL.
