Report: Weeks working hard on comeback trail

Brewers All-Star second baseman Rickie Weeks hasn't played since July 27, as he's been on the disabled list with a badly sprained ankle. Amazingly, the Brewers are 24-5 since Weeks went down, but that's just a coincidence. The lineup is obviously much better with the power-speed combo Weeks in there. Evidently Weeks is very motivated to join in on the winning, because reports from Milwaukee say Weeks is working his butt off in trying to get back on the field. In fact, one Brewers "staffer" told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com that he's never seen a player rehab harder than Weeks currently is.

Weeks, 28, is hitting .272/.346/.478 with 19 home runs, nine steals and 71 runs scored this season. There is no timetable for his return, but a minor-league rehab stint is unlikely with the season in the minors ending in just a few days.
