Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has a Grade-2 sprain in his right groin and will be placed on the disabled list, reports Jimmy Rollins of the Phillies. Yes, that's correct. You have to love the social media, as Rollins cut out any middle men (reporters) and broke his own injury news on Twitter Monday afternoon.

Rollins left Sunday's game against the Nationals in the third inning, after he appeared to injure himself on a Jesus Flores ground ball in the second inning.

Rollins is hitting .268/.342/.402 with 14 homers, 58 RBI, 79 runs and 28 stolen bases. He had been hot of late, as he'd hit successfully in 14 of the last 15 games (with a .305 average and .815 OPS) prior to Sunday. Expect Wilson Valdez to get the majority of the time at shortstop with Rollins down, marking a pretty sizeable downgrade both offensively and defensively. Still, the Phillies have dealt with injuries all season, yet have the best record in the majors.

The Phillies officially activated Placido Polanco from the DL Monday, so that will help soften the blow of losing Rollins.

Pbeat, you can be sure that come September 1st that Galvis will be up to join the team and probably get a spot start to give Valdez a night off.

Wasn't it a groin that had him in and out of the line up all last season? Still plays a mean short but has declined considerably at plate. This should be his final season. Body is starting to fail him.
