The Giants seem to have a bit of an injury curse going right now. From day-to-day issues (Jeff Keppinger, Aaron Rowand, etc.) to the disabled list (Carlos Beltran, Sergio Romo, etc.) to season-enders (Buster Posey), they're going through pretty much everything. Add All-Star closer Brian Wilson to the list now, as he's going to miss a few days with inflammation in his throwing elbow.

Wilson reportedly felt something in his elbow Monday night during his blown save against the Braves and didn't feel comfortable Tuesday, which prompted a visit to Dr. James Andrews (MLB.com) -- the famed surgeon who performs Tommy John surgeries, among other procedures. He did Wilson's Tommy John surgery a few years ago.

Now that Giants fans are sufficiently panicked, we can pass along that Andrews didn't find anything worse than inflammation (MLB.com). So it's just the next few days that Wilson will miss, at least for now.

Wilson, 29, has closed 35 of 40 save chances this season with a 3.19 ERA and 1.49 WHIP.

Don't forget that Freddy Sanchez is also out for the season, and that Burrell might be as well.  Add in the 40 games Pablo Sandoval spent on the DL, and, of course, the nearly always DL'd Mark Derosa and its even worse.  Then there is also Andres Torres and Barry Zito presently on the DL.  Jonathon Sanchez twisted his ankle, and Nate Schierholtz had to sit out a game as well. Miguel Tejada and Mike Fontenot were also hurt (that's why they got Cabrera and Keppinger), but seem to be back.  The game before last, despite there being a few guys technically on the bench, only one, back up catcher Chris Stewart was the only truly healthy option. Its a good thing Eli Whiteside only gave himself a pretty scraped up face with that faceplant he did sliding into second.  We're running out of players!

This is one severely banged up team.   The last couple days they've barely been able to even field 9 guys.
