One of the things I find great about baseball is the trend of racing mascots -- and while the Brewers did it first and do it best (I have two bobble-sausages in my collection), I do love the spin the Nationals have put on the mascot race. If you're not aware, during the Presidents Race, Teddy Roosevelt never wins.
When it looked like Teddy may win on Tuesday, Stephen Strasmonkey from the team's Double-A team in Harrisburg, Pa., came out of the stands to tackle Teddy. Check it out in all it's slo-mo glory here:
Teddy and the rest of the presidents were guests in Harrisburg this past weekend, where George Washington knocked out the Senators' mascot Rascal during a dance-off. Later in the game, the Senators' racing monkeys tackled Teddy. It was a precursor to Tuesday's actions, where Abraham Lincoln claimed a victory after Teddy went down.
