Time to stop ignoring Ervin Santana

If the Angels get into the playoffs, they're going to be one tough out. There's no question Jered Weaver is one of the elite aces in baseball this season and it's well known how good Dan Haren can be. If the overshadowed Ervin Santana keeps pumping out starts like he has for the past seven weeks, you could argue the Angels have three ace-caliber pitchers. It's easy to remember Santana's no-hitter on July 27, which was especially noteworthy because he allowed a run, but that wasn't a fluke in looking at his recent stretch.

Friday night, Santana disposed of the Blue Jays -- in Toronto, mind you, where the Blue Jays hit very well. He threw a complete game and only allowed seven hits, two walks and one earned run while striking out six. It was his fourth complete game of the season and he's more than locked in right now. He's on fire.

In Santana's past nine starts, he's 6-0 with a 1.50 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 72 innings. Perhaps the most important and easily overlooked stat there is the innings count. He's throwing an average of eight innings per game during this hot streak. Team him with Haren and Weaver and it's evident the Angels' bullpen is going to be fresh down the stretch.

The Angels don't have a 1-2 punch anymore, they now have a 1-2-3 punch. Ervin Santana can no longer be left out of that discussion.

I seriously doubt anyone is ignoring Santana,, his stats speak volumes of his pitching capabilities
he could be the ace in most clubs..

Dude is pulling my HTH team back into contention almost singlehandedly...Greinke coming around has helped a lot, too.
