JurrjensJair Jurrjens has hit the DL with a right knee strain, causing the Braves to call up Mike Minor to start Sunday against the Mets.

There's been no hint of injury to Jurrjens, but he did struggle in his last start by giving up five runs in five innings. The right-hander had surgery on his knee last October for a torn meniscus, which may hint to a flare-up. Jurrjens has a 2.63 ERA in 20 starts and made his first All-Star Game last month.

He's being replaced by top prospect Mike Minor, who has already made six starts as a fill-in this season, albeit with a 4.59 ERA. The lefty is a big part of Atlanta's future, and he can be reasonably counted on to hold his own in the majors. For Triple-A, he had a 3.13 ERA in 16 starts covering 100 2/3 innings.

And like clockwork, here's a Phillies fan or two trying to stir the pot.

You do a good job of stirring the pot yourself.  Like using colorful adjectives just because a person lives in a certain locale.  But that is just you.  Mr. nice guy.  Ha.  Just don't turn your back on him.

They were saying on today's broadcast that flare-ups are common after this type of surgery.  His mechanics have been off for a few starts now, so one has to wonder if it's been bothering him for longer than reported.  Also discussed was the likelihood that he won't miss much time (but only time and Jair Jurrjens can tell).

And like clockwork, here's a Phillies fan or two trying to stir the pot.  I mean good lord, there are some decent/good Phillies fans here, but it seems like the ones pushing stereotypes always show up first.  I guess some loser will be here soon to blame Jair Jurrjens' injury on attendance soon.

He is a good pitcher and a big loss. I do still see ATL making the wild card with or without him though, one person does not make a team and the Braves pretty good.

All the Braves have to do is find a way to maintain the wild card spot, manage these guys to get them healthy and fresher for the post season run they are capable of making. Last season, they played the Giants about as good as the Phillies did, I thought they should've beaten the Giants personally and had their chances. With the Phillies, it was clutch hitting that failed them, with the Braves, I felt it's sloppier play, the errors that crept in at the wrong times that they couldn't overcome. I still think the Braves can make noise in the post season. Short of a collapse, the Braves should be ok, but falling the few games they have might be indicating that, but they are 4 up in the wild card race and that's with the tight races in the Central & West with division winners factored in at this point in the season.

Should have traded JJ for an outfielder? Now that is coming from someone who isn't quite thinking straight.
