The Rockies have placed outfielder Carlos Gonzalez on the disabled list with a strained right wrist, Major League Baseball announced on Twitter.
Gonzalez injured his wrist on July 3 making a catch and crashing into the outfield wall. See the play here:
He missed several games before returning to the lineup on July 8. In the nine games since, he has hit just .214/.290/.429 with two home runs. He did have the walk-off RBI on Wednesday, but then Thursday, after hitting another homer, he appeared to be in pain after a swing in the fifth inning and left the game.
Gonzalez had an MRI Friday that revealed the wrist strain.
The team recalled Eric Young Jr. from Triple-A.
