Remember Chien-Ming Wang? The runner-up for the 2006 AL Cy Young has been steadily working his way back from a bad shoulder injury and hasn't pitched since July 4, 2009. But he's actually close to a return for the Washington Nationals.

Wang will make a rehab start in Triple-A Tuesday and could be summoned by the Nationals near the trade deadline, if one of the starters -- like Jason Marquis, who's name has shown up in rumors --is dealt. If not, Jordan Zimmermann is going to hit his innings ceiling at some point, so Wang would then join the rotation ( Whatever the path, we'll see Wang in the majors for the first time in over two years.

Wang, 31, has been very impressive in working his way through the minors. Reports have him hitting 94 on the radar gun and he has a 1.00 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in 18 innings so far. He's getting stronger, too, as he's been particularly dominant in his last two outings at Double-A.

When Wang was healthy, he was a quality starter for the Yankees. He was 38-13 with a 3.67 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 2006 and 2007 combined.

Looking ahead to next season, adding Stephen Strasburg and Chien-Ming Wang to Jordan Zimmermann and John Lannan actually gives the Nationals a pretty solid starting rotation. That is, assuming full health and potential for everyone.

Effective material, a lot of them with thanks on the inventor. It is actually complicated to me from now on, but yet regularly, the very advantages and so gains can be overwhelming.
