2011 All-Star Game
By C. Trent Rosecrans and Evan Brunell

PHOENIX -- American League manager Ron Washington announced his lineup for Tuesday's All-Star Game:

1. Curtis Granderson, Yankees CF
2. Asdrubal Cabrera, Indians SS
3. Adrain Gonzalez, Red Sox 1B
4. Jose Bautista, Blue Jays RF
5. Josh Hamilton, Rangers LF
6. Adrian Beltre, Rangers 3B
7. David Ortiz, Red Sox DH
8. Robinson Cano, Yankees 2B
9. Alex Avila, Tigers C
SP Jered Weaver, Angels

NOTES: WEEI reports that Josh Beckett was next in line to start the All-Star Game. “What I ended up doing was the way exactly the players and the fans picked it,” Washington said. “They had [Justin] Verlander, Weaver, Beckett and all the way down the line. As each body got eliminated one got moved up. So Jered just ended up moving up."

American League All-Star lineups

lol smarten up? .296 average is not one of the best pure hitters in the MLB. I'm afraid  there are currently 32 other better hitters right now :)  Sure in your opinion he might be one of the best. but i like to see what they've done on the field. What a joke of a comment lol

And he's not even close to the best hitter in the line-up. Did you even look at the number 3 and 4 hitters in that line-up?

Cano has only slightly better power with 15 home-runs to Asdrubal's 14. and with relitivley close RBI and run totals Washington prob went with better speed and put Asdrubal at the #2 spot who has 12 steals compared to only 6 by Cano. And he's not even close to the best hitter in the line-up. Did you even look at the number 3 and 4 hitters in that line-up?

Why is Cano batting 8th? He is probably the best hitter in this lineup. I would have put him 2nd and Asdrubal 8th.
