Will A-Rod be the next to 3,000?

Alex RodriguezBy C. Trent Rosecrans

Derek Jeter was the first player to record his 3,000th hit in a Yankee uniform, but he may have company soon.

Of the active players close to 3,000, his teammate Alex Rodriguez may be the next to reach the mark. Rodriguez has 2,762 career hits, trailing only Jeter (3,002), Ivan Rodriguez (2,842) of the Nationals and Omar Vizquel (2,831) of the White Sox among active players on the all-time hit list.

After Alex Rodriguez, former Yankee and current Ray Johnny Damon (2,663), the Braves' Chipper Jones (2,565) and the Orioles' Vladimir Guerrero (2,513) are the closest to 3,000.

Alex Rodriguez seems to be the best bet to get to 3,000 first, even though he's currently injured. The other two players are older (A-Rod is 35, while Ivan Rodriguez is 39 and Vizquel is 44) and no longer every day players.

You have got to be kidding me......He is the consumate professional, taking all his accomplishments without the BS  True he is part of the best team in sports history, but players like him make them what they are,  winners.  He has the respect of the other players in the league and in baseball.  He goes out day after day plays his heart out and runs out all ground balls and fly outs.....You are either a jerk or a Red Sox fan.

Jeter is an average SS that was blessed being on a great team.
You are right on?? Peralta is a much better shortstop than Jeter ever was and Peralta will certainly be a 1st ballot hall of famer- not Jeter.? if Peralta was on a good team, he would have 5,000 hits, 10 all star nominations, 4 MVPS and 6 rings by now, for sure???????

Put that crack pipe down for a minute and come back to earth.

Avg players dont get 3,000 hits, win multiple championships, and dive head first into the stands for foul balls jackass.

The only reason you listed that is true is the first one.
