After not making their respective All-Star teams the first time around last Sunday, Shane Victorino and Paul Konerko have been added to their respective All-Star squads after winning the "Final Vote." The MLB All-Star Game is Tuesday night in Phoenix, Ariz. (MLB.com)

Phillies center fielder Victorino bested Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier, Rockies first baseman Todd Helton, Nationals first baseman/outfielder Michael Morse and Diamondbacks starting pitcher Ian Kennedy to join the National League All-Star team. Victorino became the first two-time winner of the Final Vote, as he also won in 2009. Victorino does have a minor injury this time, so it's possible he'll need to be replaced on the roster within the next few days. Still, the honor of winning is his. The two victories in the Final Vote mark Victorino's only two selections to the All-Star Game.

White Sox first baseman Konerko beat out Tigers DH Victor Martinez, Royals left fielder Alex Gordon, Orioles center fielder Adam Jones and Rays second baseman Ben Zobrist to join the American League All-Star roster. This will be his fifth All-Star Game. This time, though, it's a homecoming, as Konerko went to Chaparral High School in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale.

Proof at last, most fans no not what they speak. I believe that the choices must indicate heavy unemployment in Philly and Chicago.

If McCutchen was on the ballot I would have voted for him
Not only that, but Victorino injured his thumb and is on the DL. He probably should be ready by All Star break, but personally, if I'm the Phillies, he's more important for the 2nd half of the season. Risk injury then. I detest All Star voting anyway. You don't know how many times I saw some jerk lining up ballots and punching a stack of them for the same players. Voter fraud and yep, the hanging chads happened in South Florida. I'd normally vote, but you can see the mass production many do for a certain lineup of players, does anyone's authentic vote count when voter fraud is as widespread as it is ? And another CFer that might merit consideration is the Diamondbacks CFer. Helton has produced, so I can't say he doesn't deserve a spot in the lineup. How many 1B do they carry on the all star teams ?

...such an unintelligent comment.  The Phillies have a large fan base and have sold out their stadium 160+ games in a row. Most of Hawaii also voted for Victorino.  I believe you know not what you type. (fyi its "know" not "no")...just saying

Yep. Victorino deserved it alright. Good player, not better then Helton.
If you look at all the stats Vic deserves this spot above Helton.  Shane is a much more dynamic player and plays a much Golg Glove quality defense at a premium position.
If McCutchen was on the ballot I would have voted for him over Vic, but none of those other guys.

For a time back in the 60s there was two All Star games a year. now there are nearly twice as many teams to pick players from. I am sure if rehre was another game you could get viewers, fans, and players to have another game.

Maybe the fans could vote for players on one game (with of course Jeter starting), and maybe ligitimate method for choosing the players in the other game.

Maybe the second game could be after the World Series (if that is over before Christmas of course).

I'm a Phillies fan but I'll be the first to admit that Eithier or McCutchen should be there instead of Shane.  But give me a break with Helton!  Hopefully, if Shane can't play, they replace him with McCutchn.

Sorry jqeagle1, but I don't see it.  They are all hitting above 300; Victorino has more HRs than Eithier, in less at bats, and more runs.  Helton has a higher batting average and more HRs and more RBIs than Ethier, and higher BA and more RBIs than Victorino.  McCutchen wasn't on the vote, so he should not be in your discussion.

You can make a case for Eithier, Victorino, Morse or Helton.  They all have good numbers.
