And Upton?? Sanchez?? These guys are mediocre to good but again, not All Stars. When their carrers are over, these guys will benefit from being an All Star - when in fact, they are not that good.

Upton is not that good? .299 with 14 HR  44 RBI and 52 R with a .381 OBP. Upton deserves to be a reserve and he is very good

How many fricken Giants pitchers do they need to have on there? MLB really should make a rule to only allow a few from each team instead of many!

people need to quit bitching about chipper... he was a PLAYER'S SELECTION as in VOTED IN BY THE PLAYERS... so anyone that says he shouldnt be there is saying that they know more than the players

I know it's an honor to go to this but I would much rather see Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Roy Halladay rest so that they will be fresh for the Phillies second half run at hopefully another NL East Pennant.

You still dont get it statscbl...CC was asked and he said no since he was pretty sure he was not going to be available to pitch. This was CC's call not RW. This is not about him not getting chosen since he was Ron Washington's pick, but he declined ahead of the team being released in favor of someone like say King Felix who would not be on the team if CC was there. The rules for the all star game state that unless you are injured, you cannot go to the game if you are not going to play.
As for the whole argument of the home field in the WS..that is simply dumb anyway. We all know that in a 7 game series ANYTHING can happen.

ksudodger thanks for the all caps, but you still don't get it.  If there is a rain-out that pushes CC's start back, he will not be pitching on Sunday.  Therefore, he could be fully rested to pitch and sitting home on a 3 day vacation.  If the AL loses home field advantage(especially if it is the Yankees), that is not being a team player and he should not be applauded. I understand what you are saying, but you are assuming he will 100% for sure pitch on Sunday.

I'm glad Clayton Kershaw made the all-star team, he earned it with those 3 complete games and 2 shut outs plus he leads the majors in strikeouts. Im sure that helped guarantee him an All-Star nod.
