CubanMark Cuban is fresh off winning a NBA title with the Dallas Mavericks but still casts an eye toward owning a baseball team one day, and may have interest in the Los Angeles Dodgers, as TMZ reports (with video).

Cuban (photo, left) has tried and failed to own a baseball team before, falling short in a bid for the Cubs as well as losing an auction to run the Rangers. Cuban has been linked to purchasing the Dodgers because of his interest in owning a team plus the stature of the Dodgers' brand. Currently, Frank McCourt is fighting to retain the team after using it as his personal piggy bank, with a well-publicized divorce sapping much of his funds to run the team.

Cuban is afraid the Dodgers are "such a mess" that it wouldn't be worth the investment to buy the team. Indeed, not only is McCourt scraping money together to meet twice-monthly payrolls, but the team is set up with multiple companies holding different rights to the Dodgers that could create a legal quagmire to work through.

Appearing on TMZ Live Tuesday, Cuban said "if they're fixable and the deal is right, then I'm very interested."

It has long been believed that Cuban is being blackballed from baseball due to being an outspoken owner, and baseball likes its owners to toe the line. After the McCourt debacle, however, commissioner Bud Selig may be enticed by Cuban's clear commitment to winning and investing funds to make it happen. After all, if Cuban is not good for baseball but McCourt was, there's something wrong going on here.

Exactly, which is why Angelinos love Jerry Buss so well !! I have been going to laker's games since the 70"s, and hardcore since Buss bought the franchise...he has always mingled with the fans...always amicable.  Like Cuban, always re-invested with the Team !!  It has been a shame to see my favorite team dissolve...I have been boycotting the Dodgers since the divorce procedings shed light on the mis-management of the Big Blue....now I have been followed by many of my friends and their's.....gave up Season Tickets which my family had owned since 1962 !! It is a crime when the only highlites they can show are still Gibby trotting around the bases!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After years of ownership by the morons at Fox and the greed of McCourt, it would be a pleasure to have the Dodgers owned by someone who cares about the fans as well as the players !! Continue to boycott the Dodgers until they have been sold

I have no clue why Cuban's persona has kept him out of baseball. Baseball thrived during the Life and Times of George Stinebrenner. What's wrong with the second coming?

Also, coming from a Heat fan, Cuban has earned my respect.

They should allow someone to own multiple teams even in the same sport.  I'd like to see Cuban own the Cubs, the Clippers, the Mets, the Pirates, the Indians, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Arizona Cardinals.

Heck I wish he would buy the METS and get rid of the Wilpons who only care about their money and not winning a Championship!! Mark Cuban has a passion for winning and his teams fans love him.

Cuban would be a great owner of a MLB team. They may not want him because he likes to go against the grain. If he sees something thats not right he voices his opinion.Like any major corporation, MLB does'nt want someone who goes against the grain and questions the decisions of upper brass only for the reason they do not want to be questioned.Cuban speaks his mind and if its not liked he gets fined for what he says.Arent we in America where you have the freedom of speech?Oh yea thats right you can only say whats on your mind and not get fined for it if you're agreeing with the masses if not you're a trouble maker and you get fined.Go Cuban
