Phil Hughes tossed a simulated game Thursday and hit 92 mph with his fastball, an encouraging sign as he tries to battle back from a mystifying loss of velocity, WFAN reports.Hughes is still a ways away from returning to the majors but will take a significant step forward next Tuesday when he starts his rehab assignment for the rookie-ball club. When he returns to the majors, it will be with a 13.94 ERA from three starts and 10 1/3 innings. He has walked four and given up 19 hits and recorded only three strikeouts.
