Hanley RamirezMarlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez said it's unlikely he'll play Monday in Arizona after leaving Sunday's game with lower back pain in the first inning of his team's loss to the Dodgers.

"Bad," Ramirez said of his back when asked by Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

Ramirez said his back has been hurting him, but got worse when he popped up in the first inning. He played in the field in the bottom of the first, but didn't return for the second.

"We'll find out [Monday]," manager Edwin Rodriguez said. "I have to find out what's the situation, what's the status with Hanley and then we'll go from there."

Rodriguez was referring to the team's roster makeup. the team is currently playing with a short bench because it's carrying 13 pitchers on the roster. The Marlins start a three-game series in Arizona before an off day on Thursday, followed by the start of an 11-game homestand on Friday.

Han Ram is a sympton of the sickness that is going through MLB today. These playes make too much money too quickly. Not only does this guy not have any respect for the game, but he has low self esteem. This is cultural and he will never change. Just because poor ownership made a bad business decision to throw money at this guy doesn't make him a great player. He is lazy and over rated. His illness is caused by his over working out to try to maintain his bulk. The boo birds will be out in full force when the Marlins get home in a few days.. So he's resting up. Just another sign of his laziness...

im right their with you man. i am tired of all these pampered atheletes crying about every little thing. life is so hard for them, millions of dollars in the bank, large bank accounts, car, homes and everything else. I played hockey for most of my life in one form or another. ive played with my jaw wired , broken hand, i even put duck tape over a gash over my eye to stay on the rink to finish the game.IN fact many times i played the entire game or 2 or 3 games in a day, because teams were short handed and they know how talented i was. I too never got the chance to fulfill my dream. the problem is they get to much money, no player should make more that a million dollars a year it a fing joke.Yes i would play for almost nothing because of the love of the game, if i made a 100,000 dollars a year that would be more than enough to sustain a great life. they need to think about the fans , blow up the cba and start from scratch. lets see if these pansies miss games then. in fact if you miss a game you should lose that of you pay just like in the real world.

Yes, I agree. It's not his back that's the problem, it's his bat. It has a hole in it. Time for a new one.

LOL  !!  A  bad  back !!  More  like  an excuse to  explain away  his  horrid  start to  the  year !!! I played minor  league baseball and pitched in the  phillies  organization before  an injury  ended  my career !!! And that's  what it  took to  get  me off the  field !!  I'm tired of  seeing  these  babies  out  for  a  hang nail , cramps  or  some  other  little  inconvience !!  they  get  paid  millions  to play  a  game !!! grow  some  stones, man up  and just play !!!!!the  real  superstars play  through  the  everyday bumps  and  bruises !!! Try  working  a  real  50 hour a  week job  and telling your  boss  " my  back is  sore !"  spoiled  rotten pampered  athletes !! and  no  i  have no  regrets  about  how my  career  ended !!  i  just  love life  ,my  family  and  baseball !!!
