Tigers catcher/designated hitter Victor Martinez let Monday night's game in the second inning with a right groin strain, the team announced. He will be re-evaluated Tuesday.

Martinez, 32, missed Sunday's game with a groin injury but was thought to be OK to return to action Monday. Evidently that wasn't the case. He was limping but didn't need help off the field, so it's likely we see a day-to-day situation.

Martinez is hitting .250 with two home runs and nine RBI in 60 at-bats so far this season.

Not good. We need to keep a potential big bat around Cabrera or they'll start to throw his garbage and walk him again. With our hitters in the lineup they will have to pitch to him. So here's hoping for a speedy recovery V-Mart.

This just means more playing time behind the plate for Avila...I really want to see what this kid can do with a full year of playing time. He can handle a pitching staff and has a great swing.
