After watching his teammates storm out of the gate by sweeping the Red Sox on opening weekend, Brandon Webb took the hill Monday to throw live batting practice. It did not go well. Just ask him.

"It went bad," Webb told "I was pretty wild."

So wild, in fact, that Webb actually hit three of the minor-league hitters he was facing. And, again, this was batting practice. It's not all doom and gloom, though, because Webb was throwing without pain. He had been shut down the past few weeks as he was unable to get loose last time he threw.

Webb plans on throwing again Friday and if things go well, the next step would appear to be a simulated game.

Webb struggles in throwing session

You can't expect Brandon Webbto be sharp with all the injury issues he has had in the past couple of years. He may have been wild, but if he can throw without pain, he will be able to return to pitch and perhaps regain some of the magic he had. The Rangers certainly have enough pitchers for the first month of the season without needing Webb now...mid season or sooner would be a great time for him to return. Right now, ALexi Ogando and Derek Holland are the 4th and 5th starters for the Rangers. I imagine if Webb returns, one of them will move to the bullpen. Not sure if Scott Feldman will ever return to his 17 win season form again. He's still on the DL.
